The first casualty when war comes…

November 25th, 2006 by timelady

…is truth.

“Pat Tillman was a former NFL football player who joined the U.S. Army Rangers in 2002. When he was killed in Afghanistan in 2004, the Pentagon and the Bush regime seized on his death to build patriotic support for the war, and military and political officials appeared with the Tillman family at the funeral. But the official story released to the press and told to the Tillman family—that Pat had been killed by “enemy fire”—was a lie. In fact he had been killed by “friendly fire” from Rangers in his own unit. After the Tillman family continued to press for the truth the Army finally released thousands of pages of heavily censored documents on their investigations, which have allowed the family and reporters to piece together some of what occurred.

On July of 2006, ESPN.com ran a 3-part series about the death of Pat Tillman which revealed how military officials have attacked the Tillman Family for Pursuing the Truth… and Not Being Christians. Accused of wanting the truth about the death of your son and brother only because, atheists, you ‘can’t feel closure’, is obscene. Those involved should be hauled over the coals, lose their rank and position, and be forced to publically apologise. All the way up to the top.

And on a footnote to that appalling story, as of tomorrow, the Americans have fought the war in Iraq Iraq for longer than they fought in World War II.

SO, I am laughing at Microsoft. Today’s news on the hideous alliance with Novell.

Murder may pass unpunish’d for a time…

November 25th, 2006 by timelady

…but tardy justice will o’ertake the crime.

Police probing the death of Russian ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko have found above-normal levels of radiation at three locations in London.

Wow. The amazing thing about his is just how damned CLUMSY and OBVIOUS the KGB, and one quite easily can assume, Putin himself, have been. I mean, c’mon fellas, you expect us to believe your innocence? Putin might as well be standing there with a smoking gun and stating “I didn’t shoot noone.” Polonium-210 one of world’s rarest elements - and guess where it is mainly found and used?

This is a terrible injustice and murder of an outspoken critic of the Putin Regime.

This is stunningly outrageous! Teens try to thwart the Military attemtping to recruit high school kids - and they have to fight the school to do it???!!!!
Teens Frustrate Military Recruiter’s ASVAB Scam - by Scott Horton
From the article : “Often administered under the guise of a career aptitude test, the ASVAB’s purpose is to better equip the State to prey on young people tricked or pressured into taking the test. According to Debbie Hopper of Mothers Against the Draft, it is often given under the pretext of being a “career placement” test.”

Abolition of a woman’s right to abortion…

November 25th, 2006 by timelady

…when and if she wants it, amounts to compulsory maternity:  a form of rape by the State.

Oh, those whackjob fundamentalists who want to own our uterii are at it again, this time in Georgia, USA. A new bill that seeks to ban ALL abortions - no exceptions -  is proposed by a rather revolting fundamentalist. Shakespeare’s Sister has an informed post by an impassioned and articulate person on this awful bill.

From the post : “This is House Bill 1 (or HB1, for short), and it was presented for prefile by Representative Bobby Franklin. This odious bill, if enacted into law, would impose a total ban on abortion in the state, one that rivals the South Dakota ban. This means no abortion even in the case of rape, incest, or detriment to the health of the mother, and for the life of me, I have scoured this bill, and it makes no mention of allowing for an abortion to save the life of the mother.”

Why do I think this guy is revolting? Because he is anotehr man trying to take away rights with a complete and utter disregard for anythign regarding facts. His use of much debunked by science claims of increased breast cancer, along with his breathtaking claim that abortion has robbed the state of workers, is just vile.

But it is a cold, lifeless business…

…and yet not too good to be true.

Rare anti-female circumcision conference held
Including conservative Egyptian and other conservative relatively hardline Muslim scholars. Isn’t it great to see religion working for advancement and rights, instead of the usual oppressive or violence clash stories? Lets hope they can progress elimination of this appallingly cruel and awful practice.

And while we are seeing some advances - a sigh of finally! After decades of opposition, Vatican view on condoms begins to shift.

Are we seeing reason and enlightenment finally start to haul some awful dark age practices and beliefs into the light of rationality and human rights? Lets all hope so!
