No, somehow, I don’t think they feel so thankful. If this is the freedom that GWB thinks that they should be thankful for, no. The American way has liberated them from a dictator - and bought absolute carnage to them. This is no War in Terror. This is just Terror.
Liberation is one thing - but helping build something better - hell, just SOMETHING - was what was needed. The Coalition of the Willing (I was NOT willing, btw, even though my Prime Minister was) blew it, big time. They have created an opportunity for radical fundamentalists to say : “Look, they bought all this destruction and chaos - why would you side with them? Side with us, at least we are culturally related, we have the answers the Coalition can’t provide!”.
What sort of idiotic policies create a situation where the TERRORISTS seem more stable and reasonable than the chaotic carnage of the Coaltion?
I’m not thankful for that. I have no gratitude that my world is less safe, not more, due to this war. I am not grateful for the dead and maimed in Iraq (and Afghanistan, another huge ’success’ where the Taliban are rising, like hideous spectres, strengthened by this experience).
I am grateful to the soldiers though. I loathe the policies that send them there, but I salute their courage.

And while Microsoft says : “we agree to disagree with Novell on Linux patent infringements“, it seems they don’t play by the rules themselves, as Alcatel slaps Microsoft with patent infringement claim. Oh Dear. And they have so much on their plate too, like Vista’s EULA product activation worries.

If I had known, I would seriously have contemplated applying. Hope it happens again, I will be keeping an eye on it, and looking out for presentations locally.
