This is exactly how I see the Microsoft-Novell deal. The Open Source community is the life preserver that Novell swam away from.

I have been reading the blog of one of the most amazing men I have ever encountered. He is a nonagerian (in his 90s for you confused types), and is facing the big journey at the end - his own mortality now is a reality he must face. Journey with him, and share the incredible honour and privilege of knowing him in the small way that we can. If I had access to a genie, one of the wishes I have is to meet this man.
