You see, he asks a question at the very end - and I cannot answer it at all positively.

Endless forms…

…most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.

On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life is also known more simply as The Origin of Species, by Charles Darwin. This gave evolution to the world, a gift to science as wonderful and ground breaking as Newton’s Principia Mathematica, imho.

Well, now you can download it in its entirety as an audio book : The Origin of Species audio book, all thanks to a marvellous group of volunteers, Librivox, record chapters of books in the public domain and release the audio files back onto the net. They want to make all public domain books available as free audio books.Kudos to them for making this available.

The bicycle is the most civilized conveyance…

… known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart.

Apprently, comparison of car sales and bike sales in Australia has shown that, in 2006, Bicycles Outsell Cars - New Record! This is fantastic news, and as an advocate of the bike, it gladdens my heart:) There is also coverage of this news by Treehugger.

Watch this and weep. If you are not moved, if you are not outraged, where have you lost your humanity? Do not turn your back on these children. It is to our everlasting shame that we have learnt so little.

I rode the mighty…

…moonworm.

This interview with one Albert Gore, maker of the doco movie An Inconvenient Truth, and in the minds of many people, the REAL President of the USA, is fascinating. Dayum, man has a conscience and passion and drive. Run for pres again, PLEASE!!!! AND he rode the moonworm! When I first saw him on Futurama, I thought to myself, “self”, I thought, “self - we need to elect people like this, that can poke such wicked fun at themselves.”

(Ok, enough raving. Its just he is such a contrast to the incompetent incumbent)

Do not wait for extraordinary circumstances…

…to do good action; try to use ordinary situations.

This is pretty awful stuff. Not that they refuse the free 50000 dvds of ‘An Inconvenient Truth‘, its the fact that they accept dvds from the fuel, oil, and petroleum industries without question - and  the refusal looks a lot like they are hesitant to offend these groups.  This is the education your kids get.

…mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly.

Actually, look at that quote. Look at the last bit. Pray? No.
Act now. Pray later.
